Job summary

Upstart is seeking a HMDA / Fair Lending Manager to own the data-quality lifecycle for HMDA reporting, with emphasis on accuracy, geographic analysis, and second-line oversight. The role focuses on building robust controls, partnering with Compliance, Product, and Model Risk, and applying automation and Generative AI to scale reviews while preserving regulatory interpretation and human review.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HMDA data experience with data integrity, geocoding, and reporting.
• Experience preparing quarterly and annual HMDA submissions in regulated lending environments.
• Experience performing root-cause analysis of compliance data and coordinating remediation.
• Knowledge of Fair Lending requirements (EOA/Reg B, FHA).
• Experience with compliance testing, QA, monitoring, or second-line oversight of regulated lending data.

Responsibilities

• Own HMDA data-quality lifecycle, including reviews and reporting accuracy and timeliness.
• Identify data-quality issues and coordinate remediation with business teams.
• Build a risk-based HMDA sampling and QA program for second-line oversight.
• Perform geographic analysis of lending patterns to identify redlining and Fair Lending risks.
• Collaborate with Product Compliance, Fair Lending, Model Risk to improve data controls.
• Use automation and Generative AI to improve sampling and analysis with human review.
