Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst - II for a remote U.S. based role in the Veterans Affairs department. The position requires strong background in software development and SAFe, with experience capturing and managing requirements across ALM tools such as JIRA.

A Master’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred, and a U.S. citizenship/security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have strong background in software development and SAFe methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to support resolution of complex questions.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool.
• Perform Agile requirement management activities for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews, lead sessions, and develop business process models and specifications.
• Gather and document business, functional, technical requirements from stakeholders.
• Elaborate user stories, decompose into backlog items, determine acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for Requirements Management, Testing, and Defect Management.
• Collect, track, monitor system and business requirements; validate and integrate.
