Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst - II for a 100% remote role. You will lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams, document them in an ALM tool, and manage backlogs and acceptance criteria for agile product teams.

The role requires deep experience with SAFe/Agile, strong communication, and proficiency with JIRA. A Master’s degree and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance are highly valued in this federal environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Agile/SAFe methodologies in software development.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to explain complex topics to varied audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
• 10 years of professional experience; federal project exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Document requirements in an ALM tool and manage them across the project lifecycle.
• Perform Agile requirement management and backlog refinement for product teams.
• Develop business process models and formal specifications from user needs.
• Coordinate with customers, IT, and leadership to document functional and technical requirements.
• Create acceptance criteria and decomposed backlog items; track traceability between requirements and tests.
• Use JIRA for requirements, testing, and defect management; manage epics and user stories.
• Develop project artifacts and communicate execution status and risks across teams.
