Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Functional Analyst II to lead requirements capture for software development in a federal setting. This full-time remote role supports the Veterans Affairs department and requires a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

You will collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to define and document requirements in ALM tools, manage backlogs, and drive SAFe/Agile processes. Strong communication and Jira expertise are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements capture for software development teams.
• Collaborate to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool and maintain backlog items.
• Perform Agile requirement management for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to define functional and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models.
• Gather and document cross-functional requirements with stakeholders.
• Elaborate user stories and define acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for requirements, testing, and defect management.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers on impacts to solutions.
• Write and deliver project documents to clients.
• Identify risks and manage scope and changes.
• Maintain project/product backlogs and traceability across requirements, tests, and risks.
