Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Lead Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to lead the design of a production bridge connecting the Library of Congress ECS and DLS applications. The role blends hands-on coding (80/20) with architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and setting technical strategy.

You will tackle integration across multi-system environments, using Python/Django and Java, AWS services, Terraform, and CI/CD tooling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on software development in complex systems.
• Production Python/Django experience required.
• Java experience in a mixed Python/Java stack is expected.
• Cloud IaC with AWS and Terraform demonstrated.
• Experience building CI/CD with Jenkins and security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 3-5 person engineering team; write ADRs and set coding standards.
• Design and own integration layers and versioned API contracts.
• Develop across Python (Django) and Java for content and workflows.
• Build scalable event-driven pipelines on AWS and manage Terraform infra.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and Content-Addressable Storage architectures.
• Develop search indexing with Solr/Elasticsearch.
• Lead Agile SCRUM ceremonies with government Product Owners.
