Job summary

Vibrant Planet seeks an Application Engineer to build and evolve our wildfire resilience platform and utilities apps. You\'ll work across Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView, TypeScript, Postgres, and Mapbox to translate leading fire science into intuitive tools used by land managers, fire districts, and utility planners.

Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Infrastructure to ship features end-to-end, own deployments, and contribute to reliability in a fast-paced remote startup in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production web applications.
• Proficiency in Elixir, including OTP.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL, including schema design, query optimization, and migrations.
• Ability to ship features end-to-end in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, ability to scope ambiguous problems with PMs and designers.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship full-stack features across Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView, JS, and Postgres.
• Work with large geospatial datasets to surface insights for land managers and utilities.
• Partner with Product and Design to scope, refine, and deliver user-facing workflows.
• Own features end-to-end from design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Contribute to platform reliability via code review, testing, observability, and on-call.
• Collaborate with Environmental Analysis and Infrastructure to integrate geospatial models.
• Mentor engineers and participate in technical interviews.
