Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Remote SR Firmware Engineer II to design and develop FPGA-based firmware using VHDL for space payloads, collaborating with hardware and software teams to meet demanding radiation and performance requirements.

The role focuses on high-speed interfaces (DDR4/Aurora), IP core creation, and AXI-based data movement, with remote work flexibility and cross-functional collaboration across hardware and software disciplines.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of professional firmware engineering experience.
• Strong FPGA firmware development in VHDL, including testing and validation.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces and radiation-tolerant designs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with hardware/software teams to define FPGA requirements.
• Develop, simulate, and verify FPGA logic in VHDL; perform timing analysis.
• Support bring-up, integration, and testing across lab environments.
• Create and integrate IP cores and AXI interfaces for FPGA systems.
• Address SEU/SEL radiation-mitigation considerations in designs.
• Develop software interfaces and DMA-based data transfers for FPGA designs.
