Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Remote Sr Firmware Engineer II to design and develop FPGA-based firmware in VHDL for space payloads. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams, implement and test FPGA logic, and ensure operation in radiation environments using Xilinx devices in a fully remote setting.

The role includes collaboration across teams, development of image processing algorithms, and integration with AXI interfaces while leveraging Yocto/Linux environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years firmware engineering experience
• 8+ years FPGA firmware design using VHDL
• Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify FPGA logic in VHDL for space payloads
• Collaborate with hardware/software teams to refine requirements
• Develop high-speed interfaces like DDR4 and Aurora
• Create and integrate FPGA IP cores
• Support test, validation, and radiation environment mitigation
