Job summary

Actalent is seeking an FPGA Design Engineer to translate system requirements into embedded digital architectures and lead FPGA-based subsystem design and verification.

You will develop HDL code (VHDL/Verilog), create testbenches, and drive timing closure using Xilinx Vivado, Synplify Pro, and QuestaSim in aerospace/defense contexts. Collaboration and mentoring are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with strong HDL experience.
• 9+ years digital electronics design with Bachelors, or 7+ years with a Masters.
• Strong HDL (VHDL/Verilog) and FPGA design, verification, and test experience.
• Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Synplify Pro, and QuestaSim for design and verification.
• Ability to implement DSP algorithms in FPGAs and perform timing closure.
• Experience reading/creating ICDs and defining interfaces.
• Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities; effective communicator.

Responsibilities

• Lead full life-cycle digital product development from concept to field support.
• Translate requirements into embedded FPGA architectures and test plans.
• Architect FPGA subsystems, perform schematic capture, simulation, and integration.
• Develop and maintain VHDL/Verilog for complex FPGA systems.
• Implement real-time DSP in FPGAs with efficient resource use.
• Drive synthesis, timing closure, and physical implementation.
• Create robust testbenches and verification environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
