Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist/Environmental Engineer to support ABP environmental compliance and champion continuous improvement within our national platform. You will help manage permits, reports, and EMS activities while aligning with CRH policies and site leadership across North America.

This remote role requires residence near a major airport and 3+ years in EHS/manufacturing, a relevant bachelor’s degree, travel up to 30%, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in EHS, Science or Engineering or related experience.
• 3+ years in EHS/manufacturing with EHS responsibility.
• Excellent communication across departments.
• Expert knowledge of air quality or environmental regulations.
• Strong project and process management with major projects.
• Navigate regulatory agency and industry web content.
• MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Certifications (FE, PE, CHMM, PMP, CIH) preferred.
• OSHA 40 Hazwoper, RCRA or DOT HazMat training preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain environmental permits for plants and projects, esp. air permits.
• Prepare and submit EPA and state reports with partners.
• Assist ensure compliance tests are conducted per permits timelines.
• Maintain documentation compliance: inspections, audits, complaints, investigations.
• Report violations to management and to agencies when required.
• Coordinate and conduct compliance reviews and internal assessments.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes and impact on operations.
• Review documents with sites for ongoing EMA compliance.
• Develop and update environmental requirements with IPG and CRH.
• Ensure annual reports are completed and communicated to employees and contractors.
• Develop and implement plans for air quality, stormwater, oil, recycling, hazmat, education.
• Track compliance metrics and improve performance.
• Assist EMS improvements with other analysts.
