Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance and lead EHS initiatives across the Americas Building Products platform. The role works with management and hourly staff to promote environmental excellence and ensure adherence to policies and permits.

The position is remote and requires living near a major airport, with scope to travel up to 30% for site reviews and Capital Projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EHS, science or engineering required.
• 3+ years in EHS/manufacturing with compliance duties.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of air quality regulations and permits.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain environmental permits for plants, sites and projects, especially air permits during capital projects and mergers.
• Prepare and submit reports for USEPA and state agencies, including emission inventories and permit modifications.
• Ensure compliance tests are conducted within permit timeframes and documented.
• Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, investigations and EMS updates.
• Report permit violations to management and regulators as required.
• Coordinate and conduct compliance reviews, inspections and internal assessments.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on operations.
• Review documents with sites/projects for ongoing compliance and EMA alignment.
• Develop and update environmental requirements with IPG and CRH.
• Inform field staff about policy, best practices and compliance needs.
