Job summary

CRH Americas Building Products is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety professional to manage permits and compliance for plants and projects across North America. You will prepare reports for USEPA and state agencies, maintain EMS documentation, and drive compliance with air quality regulations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in EHS/Science/Engineering, 3+ years in EHS, strong communication, and travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, science or engineering fields or relevant experience.
• 3+ years in EHS or manufacturing with EHS responsibility.
• Excellent communication across departments to enable integration.
• Expert knowledge of air quality or environmental regulations.
• Strong project and process management with major projects or change initiatives.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.
• Active driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain environmental permits for plants, sites, and projects, focusing on air permitting during capital projects and mergers.
• Prepare and submit reports for USEPA and state agencies (emission inventories, testing, greenhouse gas reports, permit modifications).
• Ensure compliance tests are conducted within permit timeframes.
• Maintain documentation and EMS compliance through inspections, audits, and investigations.
• Report permit violations to management and regulatory agencies when required.
• Coordinate and conduct compliance reviews, inspections, and internal assessments.
• Stay informed on environmental legislation and assess impact on operations.
• Review documents with sites/projects to ensure ongoing compliance and EMA adherence.
• Develop and update environmental requirements and procedures with IPG and CRH.
• Ensure annual reports are completed and communicated to field staff, managers, and contractors.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance plans (air quality, stormwater, spill prevention, etc.).
• Track compliance metrics and improve performance; assist in maintaining EMS at sites.
