Job summary

Onward Search is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for a fully remote role with occasional quarterly travel to Sacramento, CA. You will design, develop, and optimize power distribution systems for industrial applications.

Responsibilities include designing switchgear and switchboards, specifying protection devices, developing SOO, leading tests, and mentoring junior engineers while coordinating with manufacturing and customers.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience designing electrical power systems or industrial equipment.
Experience with equipment startup, commissioning, or field support is a plus.
Strong knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, switchboards, and related design practices.

Responsibilities

Design and engineer low- and medium-voltage switchgear and switchboards to customer specifications.
Specify and size circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and protection devices per UL, NEC, ANSI, and IEEE.
Develop and validate Sequences of Operation (SOO) and ensure performance aligns with design intent.
Lead manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and factory witness testing (FWT).
Provide engineering support for troubleshooting, validation, field service, and manufacturing.
Manage projects from detailed design through production, coordinating with procurement, manufacturing, sales, and customers.
Mentor junior engineers, lead engineering reviews, identify design risks, and drive process improvements.
