Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Software Developer (EDI) to lead EDI workflows and partner integrations in a remote, US-based role. The candidate will troubleshoot complex X12 transactions, work with Edifecs tools, and coordinate with AWS cloud and DevOps teams.

Required are 8+ years in EDI/Edifecs, strong SQL, and excellent stakeholder communication. Security clearance and US citizenship are required for this opportunity.

Qualifications

• Understand payer/provider workflows.
• Interpret EDI loops/segments/errors.
• Familiarity with Edifecs Transaction Management.
• Strong AWS cloud experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Understand SNIP validations and companion guides.
• Interpret Edifecs XEngine validation results.
• Experience with SpecBuilder maps and implementation guides.
• Identify issues from Edifecs routes, profiles, or rulesets.
• Interpret Edifecs logs at a functional level.
• Root-cause analysis of transaction errors and data mapping.
• Understand inbound/outbound workflow architecture.
• Communicate architectural trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Gather and translate business reporting requirements into data models.
• Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Own functional EDI workflows, partner requirements, and data validation rules.
• Interpret and troubleshoot transaction sets like 270/271, 276/277, 820, 834, 835, 837, 999/277CA.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess operational impact and resolve issues.
• Document mapping and integration changes for new partners.
• Support audit/compliance reviews and maintain data quality guardrails.
• Query SQL for transaction details and reconcile mismatches.
