Job summary

Censys is hiring a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer for the Internet Map Connections team to build highly available, scalable data-driven services that power customers and internal teams. You will work on distributed infrastructure for internet-wide scanning, DNS resolution, and certificate ingestion, and help attribute ownership across assets.

The role emphasizes ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and the ability to extend platform capabilities for future products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building distributed systems.
• Experience with object-oriented programming—we use Go.
• Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with message queues (Kinesis, Pub/Sub, Kafka).
• Experience with databases like BigTable, Cloud Spanner, Cassandra.
• Understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, reliability.
• Familiarity with using AI.
• Strong, maintainable code; good communication.
• Open to using AI to amplify skills responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Help build large-scale, real-time services leveraging massive datasets.
• Build tooling, libraries, frameworks, and services for security, research and data platforms.
• Productionize prototypes into reliable internal tools, services, or platform capabilities.
• Participate in planning with engineering and product teams to build the right solutions.
• Develop and maintain systems such as data pipelines, messaging systems, databases, caching layers, and services.
