Job summary

Censys is seeking a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer to help build highly available, scalable data-driven services on the Internet Map Connections team. You will work on distributed infrastructure for real-time data processing, DNS resolution, and X.509 ingestion.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building distributed systems.
• Experience with object-oriented programming - Go.
• Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with message queue technologies (Kinesis, Pub/Sub, Kafka, etc.).
• Experience with databases such as BigTable, Cloud Spanner, Cassandra, etc.
• Understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability in distributed systems.
• Familiarity with AI.
• Ability to write readable, testable code with maintainability.
• Strong communication with engineers and product managers.
• Willingness to apply AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.

Responsibilities

• Build large scale, real-time services using massive datasets.
• Develop tooling, libraries, and services for security, research, and data platform initiatives.
• Productionize prototypes into reliable internal tools and platform capabilities.
• Participate in planning with engineering and product teams to design solutions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, messaging systems, databases, and cloud/on-prem services.
• Collaborate with ML Engineers and Security Researchers to improve security outcomes.
