Job summary

Censys is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Data Collection team. You will mentor Scanner Engineers and Distributed Systems Engineers, drive the technical roadmap, and ensure reliable, scalable data powering the Internet map and customer products.

You'll partner with Product, Research, Security, and Infrastructure to turn research into production capabilities, balance speed and quality, and manage staffing and operational health in a remote-friendly US-wide environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering management experience (3+ years).
• Experience leading a substantial technical initiative from planning through production delivery.
• Background building/operating production distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS).
• Experience with data-intensive systems (streaming, ingestion pipelines, queues, databases).
• Production reliability, monitoring, incident response, capacity planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop Scanner Engineers and Distributed Systems Engineers.
• Define the Data Collection roadmap with cross-functional partners.
• Translate research into maintainable production capabilities and drive delivery.
• Establish standards for design, testing, rollout safety, observability, and operational readiness.
