Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Director, Payer Innovation and Strategy to lead AI-enabled payer consulting engagements. This role builds executive relationships, shapes high-value opportunities, and oversees end-to-end delivery for health plans across the U.S.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of management consulting, professional services, business development, healthcare transformation, or AI-enabled solution delivery
• 10+ years of payer-industry expertise across claims, enrollment, utilization management, prior authorization, care management, risk adjustment, quality, or member services
• 8+ years as an executive engagement leader for complex, multi-workstream programs with client satisfaction and outcomes accountability
• 7+ years creating SOWs, business cases, pricing, staffing plans, and contracts for engagements >$1M
• 5+ years deploying analytics, ML, or automation in healthcare
• 5+ years working with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, or related payer organizations
• Proven track record with C-suite engagement and commercial negotiations
• Ability to travel up to 40% domestically

Responsibilities

• Client and Account Development: Build trusted relationships with health plan executives and senior leaders; identify AI consulting opportunities
• Consultative Discovery: Lead discovery sessions and workshops to define client problems and value hypotheses
• Sales and Pursuit Leadership: Lead opportunities through qualification to close, coordinating proposals and pricing
• Engagement Shaping and Commercial Design: Define engagement outcomes, scope, pricing, and governance
• Executive Engagement Leadership: Serve as accountable senior partner for engagements and outcomes
• End-to-End Delivery Accountability: Mobilize cross-functional teams and ensure delivery quality and value realization
• Financial and Performance Management: Manage pipeline, bookings, revenue, margin, and risk
• Practice and Talent Development: Develop repeatable offerings and reference architectures with responsible AI standards
