Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Director, Payer Technology Optum Advisory to lead complex consulting engagements across payer domains from a remote starting point within the U.S. The role blends delivery leadership, solution architecture, and the use of AI-enabled tools to drive measurable client outcomes.

You will guide cross-functional teams, manage client relationships at the executive level, and ensure high-quality outcomes with a focus on adoption, value realization, and scalable assets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in management consulting with a focus on healthcare payer business.
• 5+ years of Healthcare payer experience with expert-level knowledge across claims, provider, finance, enrollment & eligibility, billing, or utilization management.
• 3+ years of Agile development, including Capability Management and Program Increment Planning.
• 3+ years of presenting to clients and senior executive audiences.
• Proven experience on two large-scale core admin system implementations or migrations.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity and deliverables.
• Proven ability to grow consulting business by identifying client needs and opportunities.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and MS Copilot.
• Willing to travel domestically up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Serve in delivery leadership and/or business solution architect roles on complex consulting engagements.
• Lead matrixed client and consulting teams across engagements with cross-functional coordination.
• Leverage AI-enabled solutions to strengthen delivery and reusable capabilities.
• Document end-state, future-state processes, and technical reference architecture.
• Diagnose issues and define practical solutions with measurable client outcomes.
• Build alignment among stakeholders to support adoption and value realization.
• Produce high-quality deliverables including solution intent documents and proposals.
• Coach team members and ensure outputs are accurate and actionable.
• Maintain effective client communications and executive-ready updates.
• Manage project economics, quality, and delivery practices for profitability.
