Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Director for Payer Technology Optum Advisory to lead complex engagements and guide AI-enabled solutioning across payer domains. The role offers remote work within the U.S., with in-office requirements in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. areas four days per week.

You will oversee delivery leadership, cross-functional teams, and executive communications, driving value and scalable solutions for healthcare payers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in management consulting focusing on healthcare payer business.
• 5+ years working in healthcare payer with expert knowledge of claims, provider, finance, enrollment & eligibility, billing, and utilization management.
• 5+ years leading large-scale engagements in a client-facing role.
• 3+ years of Agile development methodologies and Program Increment Planning.
• 3+ years presenting to clients and senior executive audiences.
• Experience on two large-scale core admin system implementations or migrations.
• Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance deliverables.
• Proven ability to expand consulting business by identifying additional client needs.
• Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio.
• Proficient with MS Copilot.
• Willing to travel domestically up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery leadership or business solution architect roles on complex engagements.
• Coordinate matrixed client teams across business, technology, operations, and executive stakeholders.
• Leverage AI-enabled solutions to strengthen solutioning, delivery, and insights.
• Document end-to-end scope, future-state processes, and architectural references.
• Diagnose issues and define practical strategic solutions with measurable outcomes.
• Build alignment among stakeholders to support adoption and value realization.
• Produce high-quality client deliverables and proposals.
• Coach and develop consulting team members and approaches.
• Serve as day-to-day client contact with executive-ready updates and briefings.
• Manage project economics, quality standards, and delivery practices.
• Demonstrate sound relationship management and stakeholder navigation.
• Contribute to practice advancement through business development and thought leadership.
