Job summary

Avantor seeks a Senior Director, Global Engineering to lead the global engineering function, driving capital project execution, site engineering, and digital transformation across a world‑class manufacturing network.

You will set enterprise engineering strategy, govern programs up to $150M, advance OEE, and ensure GMP/ISO compliance while partnering with IT, operations, and finance. Remote role with 25% travel supports Avantor's global footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering and operations leadership experience in regulated environments.
• Experience leading global engineering organizations and capital portfolios.
• Strong background in process engineering and automated manufacturing systems.
• Proven expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with new plant builds, large expansions, and brownfield transformations.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the global engineering strategy aligned to growth and safety.
• Govern capital programs up to $20M and large projects up to $100M+ across sites.
• Lead front-end design and full lifecycle execution of major investments.
• Drive cross-functional alignment (operations, supply chain, quality, EHS, finance).
• Develop and apply technology to enhance OEE and operational predictability.
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement across regions.
• Coach and develop director-level talent and manage workforce planning.
