Job summary

NWN is seeking a Sr. Director of Billing to lead a ~20-member billing function in a remote-capable U.S. role with a Boston anchor location. You will drive timeliness, accuracy, and process discipline across all customers, products, and models, partnering with IT and Finance to eliminate data-flow issues and backlog.

You will establish KPIs, implement end-to-end billing cadences, and mentor leaders to build a scalable, auditable operation that supports revenue integrity and strong controls.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in B2B billing or order-to-cash with 5+ years leading teams.
• Experience with ERP/billing-system implementations or migrations.
• Strong controllership fluency including ASC 606 and revenue recognition.
• Proven ability to build KPIs, dashboards, and reporting cadence.
• Experience in multi-entity, high-volume billing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a billing team of ~20, align targets, coach performance, and manage escalations.
• Create end-to-end billing cadence and SOPs for all models (fulfillment-, contract-, BluLogix, and state contracts).
• Drive backlog reduction and ensure on-time, accurate invoicing across products.
• Partner with Finance IT to fix upstream data-flow and system issues (NetSuite, Salesforce, BluLogix).
• Own largest accounts and complex billing exceptions, providing hands-on guidance.
• Define calendar controls and governance to ensure contract-driven invoicing.
