Responsibilities

• Design and build core components of GitHub's database platform
• Be SME on database internals and administration
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand needs and input to planning
• Operate and improve replication topology and failover automation
• Tune kernel, storage, and compute/disk SKUs for throughput and latency
• Contribute to capacity planning for the database fleet
• Participate in on-call rotation and incidents
• Assist in migrating fleet to Azure
