Job summary

Humana Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, ingesting data from multiple sources and turning it into actionable insights for analytics and AI initiatives.

You will collaborate with software and analytics teams, ensure data quality, and apply engineering best practices on cloud-native platforms, aligning with enterprise standards and Humana’s mission to better serve members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, or computing related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and building production-grade batch data pipelines.
• 8+ years of overall experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Databricks, Python, Apache Spark, Git, and Azure services.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data warehousing.
• Experience with Big Data querying tools and optimizing large-scale data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using Azure Databricks.
• Develop and maintain SAS programs and SSIS packages for data processing.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation and analytics.
• Design ETL/ELT pipelines integrating multiple data sources.
• Select and support Big Data tools and frameworks for data processing.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and fix complex data processing issues with root-cause analysis.
