Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data‑driven solutions.

You will work with engineers and analytics teams to ingest data from internal and external sources using cloud‑native platforms, ensuring data quality and performance across enterprise systems. The role emphasizes collaboration, advanced data processing, and applying engineering best practices while contributing to AI/ML initiatives that transform data into actionable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or computing discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and building production-grade batch data pipelines.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Databricks, Python, Spark, Git, and Azure services.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data warehousing.
• Experience with Big Data querying tools and ETL/ELT
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using Azure Databricks.
• Develop and maintain SAS programs and SSIS packages for data processing.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation and analytics.
• Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines from multiple sources.
• Select and support Big Data tools and frameworks for processing and integration.
• Monitor and resolve data processing issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Optimize pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with product management and SRE to define requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders to align data strategy and architecture.
