Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data‑driven solutions.

You will collect, store, and analyze large data sets, collaborating with software engineers and analytics teams to deliver reliable, enterprise‑grade data platforms. You will evaluate technologies, implement data workflows on cloud platforms (Azure), and apply best practices to support business and analytical needs while protecting member PHI/PII in a healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or computing or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience designing and building production-grade batch data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• 8+ years of overall experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Proficiency with SQL, Databricks, Python, Apache Spark, Git, and Azure Services (Synapse, Azure ADLS Gen 2).
• Strong understanding of relational database principles, data modeling, and data warehousing.
• Experience with Big Data querying tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows using Azure Databricks.
• Develop and maintain SAS programs and SSIS packages for data processing.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data transformation and analytics use cases.
• Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from multiple sources.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data processing issues with root cause analysis.
