Job summary

Kraken is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst, Compliance to join remotely. You will own end-to-end data management, build pipelines, and design dashboards to provide visibility into compliance operations.

You will translate regulatory requirements into production detection logic, refine detection thresholds, and partner with cross-functional teams to drive action and performance improvements. This role emphasizes data-driven decision making and scalable engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data analysis, data science, and data management within fintech/crypto/financial services.
• Experience working with compliance, fraud, funding, finance, or customer support teams and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with experience building and supporting production data/analytical systems.
• Hands-on experience using dbt or similar tooling to model and organize high-fidelity data for reporting and decision-making.
• Experience setting up and managing data pipelines with workflow orchestration and strong software engineering practices including version control, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Solid statistical foundation; ML exposure is a strong plus.
• Proficiency with BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Hex, Tableau, Power BI) to build executive-facing dashboards.
• Ability to investigate production issues and communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Belief in Kraken's Tentaclements values.
• A degree in analytics/engineering/economics/statistics.
• Based in Canada, the US, or Brazil, and fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data management, from building datasets and pipelines to designing dashboards for the Compliance team.
• Own the logic and rule-setting behind transaction monitoring across deposits and withdrawals.
• Translate compliance requirements into production detection logic with correct alerting and segmentation.
• Develop and maintain Python and SQL pipelines for transaction data preparation and detection workflows.
• Evaluate detection rules and models for coverage, alert quality, thresholds, and impact of changes.
• Design reproducible evaluations on historical data accounting for limited labels and shifts in behavior.
• Manage testing, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and support for detection workflows.
• Execute historical backfills with validation and traceability, maintain alert delivery and integrations with compliance systems.
• Experiment and translate insights into action while applying software engineering best practices.
