Job summary

Pittsburgh Tomorrow seeks a Controller to lead the accounting team, manage the general ledger, and oversee multiple cost centers within a double-entry accrual system. The role reports to the CFO and supervises AR, AP, Accountant, Payroll Administrator, and Rep Payee Manager.

The ideal candidate has 5-7+ years in accounting/finance, CPA preferred, and nonprofit sector experience. Remote work eligibility is possible with core in-office responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Approximately 5-7+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, financial controlling or related discipline.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred and non-profit human services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the agency's accounts, general ledger, and budgets.
• Oversees month-end processing and closing, including the monthly Balance Sheet account analysis.
• Controls ledgers, billings, disbursements, audits, balances, statements, and reports for payroll, supplies, equipment, and services.
• Handles tax reporting requirements, including Pennsylvania Sales Tax payments and reports.
• Prepares reports that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position.
• Originator of fiscal guidelines and policies to supplement guidelines.
• Advises on accounting technical matters to directors and staff.
• Supervises key accounting staff and acts as backup as needed.
• Coordinates audit activities with independent auditors and secure portal uploads.
