Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner nonprofit in the United States, seeks a Controller, Finance to lead accounting operations, close cycles, and external audit coordination in a remote, full-time role.

The successful candidate will ensure GAAP compliance, oversee budgeting and forecasting, manage cash-flow reporting, and strengthen internal controls while supervising a finance team member.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, nonprofit focus.
• At least 3 years of management or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
• Experience in monthly close, reconciliations, and GL integrity.
• Experience with annual external audits and audit schedules.
• Budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow modeling, and variance analysis.
• Internal controls development and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly financial close with accurate reporting of transactions.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and nonprofit standards in financial statements.
• Maintain GL integrity, COA, and Sage Intacct system enhancements.
• Develop cash-flow reports and rolling 13-week forecast.
• Oversee budgeting process and department-wide projections.
• Collaborate with Development to forecast fundraising revenue and grants.
• Review budget-to-actuals with managers and update projections.
• Coordinate annual external audit and Form 990 preparation.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
• Supervise the Operations Coordinator in AP/AR.
