Job summary

Basic Capital is seeking its first Controller to own accounting, tax, and finance operations for a portfolio of over 1,000 LLCs and the company’s books. You will manage monthly close, annual returns, K-1s, reconciliations, and lender/partner reporting while partnering with engineering to automate workflows using AI.

This builder role requires setting up scalable controls and processes as the company grows, with collaboration across engineering, capital markets, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with partnership or LLC accounting including K-1s.
• Experience preparing partnership returns in UltraTax CS or similar.
• Controller-level close, budgeting, AP/AR, and reporting.
• Strong data skills with SQL and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting and administration for over 1,000 LLCs, including monthly loan/servicing tape.
• Prepare and file year-end returns and K-1s for every LLC.
• Automate accounting workflows with engineering using AI and data analysis.
• Oversee corporate accounting and payments as the company grows.
• Support monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, AP/AR, payroll and payments.
• Build controls, policies, and audit readiness for a growing fintech.
