Job summary

Trust & Will, a remote-first digital estate planning platform, is seeking a Controller to lead accounting for the company and its subsidiaries. You will own the month-end close, tax compliance, and AP/AR, while designing internal controls and implementing scalable technology.

You will collaborate with FP&A and the CFO on cost analysis, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. A senior-level role requiring 10+ years in accounting and strong leadership, with CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 4–5 years in a Controller or similar leadership role in a high-growth environment.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• Hands-on experience applying AI or automation to accounting workflows.
• Experience designing internal controls for automated or AI-assisted processes.
• Proficiency in Ramp and Rillet as well as Google Sheets & Excel.
• Familiarity with startups and IPO preparation regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience managing and developing direct reports.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting operations for Trust & Will and its subsidiaries, including month-end close, tax compliance, and AP/AR.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and enable scaling.
• Lead audits and reconciliations with accuracy to the last detail.
• Manage and optimize the accounting tech stack; collaborate with FP&A to keep systems integrated.
• Partner with CFO on cost analysis and financial planning with FP&A involvement.
• Oversee vendor relationships and ensure policy compliance.
