Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking a Senior Construction Underwriter for a remote role in the United States. You will review and price risk, build broker relationships, and manage a profitable book of business across one or more liability lines.

Applicants should have 5+ years in middle market E&S underwriting, a 4-year degree, and pursue professional designations such as CPCU or AU. The position emphasizes strong organization, problem solving, and ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree / or the equivalent education and/or experience
• 5+ years of relevant and progressive middle market contractors E&S professional experience
• Studies toward attaining a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), CPCU, AU, CIC or equivalent designation depending on specialty area

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Contact and respond to inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide information and act as underwriting resource.
• Create and maintain all documentation (files, worksheets, conversations) according to guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and policies.
• Approve/deny within authority or recommend to higher authority.
• Cultivate relationships with internal/external contacts to facilitate underwriting and business development.
• Serve as a resource to other staff on procedures and guidelines.
• Develop understanding of factors that affect policy rating and risk.
