Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an experienced Underwriter to review high-dollar proposals and guide regional teams. Under minimal supervision, you will assess risk, set rates, and ensure decisions protect the company’s financial assets.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years underwriting experience (stop-loss preferred), strong communication, and advanced MS Office skills. You’ll help train staff and maintain underwriting manuals while upholding strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
• 8 years of relevant and progressive underwriting experience.
• Management experience preferred in stop loss underwriting.
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communications with confidentiality and diplomacy.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate risk acceptability within corporate guidelines and set rates/factor levels.
• Audit quotations, new business and renewals for guideline compliance.
• Audit cases with aggregate claims per corporate guidelines.
• Direct day-to-day underwriting of regional teams and review discretion levels.
• Educate and train colleagues in underwriting duties and responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain Underwriting Manual guidelines and practices.
