Job summary

DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Construction Defect Claims Examiner to join its Align Claims subsidiary.

This remote role requires a minimum of 10 years in claims handling, with at least 5 years in construction defect cases, and licensure in required states. You will evaluate coverage, coordinate with co-carriers, conduct liability investigations, and support underwriting while staying compliant with DOI regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Professional designations (CPCU, AIC, SCLA) are a plus.
• 10+ years of overall claims experience preferred.
• 5+ years of claims handling experience required, with 3+ years handling construction defect cases.
• Must be licensed or able to become licensed in all required states.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Make initial contacts with interested parties.
• Evaluate and resolve construction defect and related property damage claims.
• Analyze coverage and draft coverage position letters.
• Coordinate with co-carriers on risk timing, case values and resolution strategies.
• Conduct liability investigations.
• Comply with DOI regulations.
• Assign defense counsel and communicate regularly to formulate an agreed upon litigation plan and budget.
• Coordinate retention of experts within an agreed budget.
• Establish timely indemnity and expense reserves based on exposure analysis.
• Submit authority requests with a comprehensive report of critical issues.
• Travel to mediations, settlements and trials on appropriate cases.
• Stay current on case law and industry trends.
• Assist underwriting and other business partners.
