Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software build and release activities within a remote U.S. environment. The role focuses on CM tools, cloud migration, and ensuring compliant, repeatable builds for VA-related projects.

The ideal candidate has deep CM expertise, experience in DevOps, and capability to mentor junior staff while collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years of relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Proven track record leading complex software builds/releases across environments.
• Experience in regulated or federal environments is ideal.
• Strong knowledge of CM, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with CM processes: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software products (COTS and in-house).
• Perform CM and release tasks to document, configure, and log build parameters.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve modelled development.
• Design and implement build procedures for product development and use.
• Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
