Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and scale backend systems for institutional settlements and transfers. Remote—US-based candidates only—with a compensation range of $207,955–$218,900 annually.

You will partner with product and engineering leadership to shape technical direction and raise code quality across critical services. Responsibilities include owning backend design, driving performance, and mentoring engineers, while collaborating on roadmaps and architecture

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with production services at scale.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar backend language and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Kafka messaging systems.
• Strong ability to lead system design decisions and technical proposals.
• Proven track record resolving quality and performance issues in distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and scaling of backend services for settlements and transfers.
• Drive code quality through rigorous reviews and active participation in the development lifecycle.
• Lead performance improvements and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with product and engineering managers to create technical roadmaps.
• Propose architectural enhancements to boost team velocity and system reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices and professional growth.
