Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Software Engineer III for remote US-based work. You will design and build scalable backend systems, own major services, and drive architecture decisions to ensure reliability and performance.

Collaboration with product and cross-functional teams will align technical solutions with business needs. You will mentor engineers and contribute to long-term system design, leveraging Java, APIs, cloud platforms, and observability tools to support high-availability digital experiences

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
5-8+ years of software engineering experience.
Proven ownership of systems or services.
Strong backend focus with Java, APIs, and services.
Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable, high-performance backend systems and services.
Lead technical design and solution architecture decisions.
Own major services or platform components for reliability and performance.
Drive resolution of complex, cross-system production issues.
Establish and promote engineering best practices and standards.
Mentor and develop engineers across levels.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
Contribute to platform architecture and long-term system design.
