Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to shape the architecture and delivery of scalable backend services that support reporting, data access, and data export. This remote role collaborates with product, QA, and partner teams to deliver secure and maintainable solutions.

You will own the technical roadmap, drive architectural decisions, enforce engineering standards, and review designs while mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of production backend leadership.
• Proficient in Java and Spring or similar backend language.
• Experience with REST API design and distributed systems security.
• Strong relational database design and performance.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and containerization.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for backend services guiding reporting, data access, processing, and export.
• Document architectural decisions across interdependent services while balancing delivery and health.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, API design, security, observability.
• Translate requirements into executable technical plans, review designs, and code when needed.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, QA, and vendor teams on scope and architecture.
