Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to shape the architecture and delivery of scalable backend services that support reporting, data access, and data export. You will collaborate across product, QA, and partner teams to deliver secure and reliable solutions.

You will own architectural decisions, drive standards for API design, security, and observability, and contribute hands-on code for high‑risk work while mentoring others.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience building/operating production backend systems.
• Strong Java/Spring experience and scalable distributed design.
• Proven ownership of multi-service architecture and APIs.
• Relational database design, migrations and performance.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, containers, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for backend services including reporting and data export.
• Document architectural decisions across interdependent services and data sources.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, security, observability, debt.
• Translate requirements into executable technical plans; review designs and code.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, QA, and partner teams.
