Job summary

Offchain is hiring a senior backend engineer to advance the Nitro/Arbitrum infrastructure. This fully remote role targets US-based candidates and emphasizes building scalable distributed systems, improving security, and delivering reliable core services alongside world-class engineers.

You’ll drive design of compiler pipelines, API-first interfaces, and collaboration with research, product, and security teams. Strong experience in Go or Rust and cloud/Docker/Kubernetes is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree accepted with 3 years of experience in blockchain backend design and security.

Responsibilities

• Work on core infrastructure powering Arbitrum and the Ethereum scaling stack.
• Tackle complex distributed systems challenges and optimize performance and security.
• Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams on cutting-edge blockchain tech.
• Provide engineering guidance to clients and internal stakeholders for infrastructure issues.
• Maintain and enhance the Nitro Testnode development tool for local Arbitrum nodes.
• Conduct peer code reviews to ensure architectural quality and best practices.
• Establish backend architectural standards and tech-stack decisions.
• Design high-performance compiler pipelines and extensible SDK frameworks.
• Collaborate with Security to identify threats in distributed systems.
