Job summary

The Athletic Media Company is seeking a Senior Manager, Analytics to lead and scale our Growth Product Insights practice. You will own the analytics roadmap, define KPIs, and guide a team of data analysts to turn subscriber and product data into strategic actions.

Reporting to the Director, Data & Insights, this 100% remote role supports U.S. and Canada residence. Strong leadership, SQL, Python/R, and experimentation expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data analytics, product analytics, or applied quantitative roles delivering reporting and strategic insight.
• 1–3+ years of formal people leadership or mentoring data professionals.
• Expertise in SQL and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Python or R for statistical modeling and data manipulation.
• Experience with modern BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Mode).
• Strong background in experimentation, causal inference, and cohort/retention modeling.
• Experience in digital media or subscription-based business models preferred.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in a quantitative field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a Growth Product Insights team, acting as player-coach.
• Define KPIs and translate data into high-leverage business decisions.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Growth to influence roadmap strategy.
• Oversee product experimentation, causal inference, and modeling across platforms.
• Establish standardized, trusted metric definitions across the org.
• Integrate modern AI tools to streamline workflows and boost capacity.
