Job summary

HealthEquity is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to architect and lead development of our cloud-native AI platform on Microsoft Azure. You will build AI/LLM services, implement scalable patterns and guardrails, and collaborate with Security, Compliance, and business teams to deliver safe AI solutions.

You will work hands-on with Azure AI tools, guide cross-functional teams, and mentor engineers while advancing our internal AI capabilities and cost-conscious delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software or cloud application engineering, including recent hands-on AI/ML development.
• Hands-on experience building AI/ML and LLM-based applications including Azure AI portfolio, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, and model integration/evaluation.
• Hands-on experience using agentic coding assistants like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing AI/LLM-powered capabilities for internal business problems using Azure AI services.
• Using agentic coding assistants to accelerate delivery and best practices for AI engineering.
• Establishing reusable patterns, guardrails, and frameworks for LLM/MLOps and cost control.
• Partnering with Security and Compliance to ensure secure-by-design AI and HIPAA data protection.
• Serving as technical lead and hands-on developer accelerating AI solution delivery.
