Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to join the remote finance team reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, analyze data, and support audits and budgeting.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition, and excellent communication. Expect remote work with competitive salary and annual skill development stipends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years as Staff Accountant or 5–8 years as Sr Accountant; public accounting experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report to departments as needed.
• Ensure transactions align with GAAP and company policies; review revenue recognition.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly journal entries and accruals.
• Assist in financial statements, budgets, and variance analysis; year-end tax schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
