Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to join our remote accounting team reporting to the Controller. You will maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and support budgeting, forecasting, and audits for a fast-growing cloud-based learning platform.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years (staff) or 5–8 years (senior) in accounting with GAAP experience, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in Excel. Prior experience with NetSuite/Intacct/QuickBooks is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3-5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5-8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and revenue recognition experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with financial statements, budgeting, and variance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze expenditures and allocate expenses to departments; report as needed.
• Ensure transactions follow GAAP and company policies.
• Review revenue recognition and posting of monthly, quarterly, yearly accruals.
• Assist in preparing balance sheet, income statement, and statements of changes in financial position; variance analysis.
• Assist in budgeting design and preparation for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for tax returns.
• Identify improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
