Job summary

Great Lakes Crop Care is recruiting for a remote territory sales role focused on corn and soybean growers in the Southern Michigan and NE Indiana regions. The position emphasizes agronomic guidance, relationship-building, and growth of a diversified grower portfolio.

Responsibilities include on-farm visits, tailored product recommendations, and proactive management of customer accounts, with travel within the territory and ongoing CRM documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business or equivalent, plus 3 years in agricultural sales, input retailing, or agronomic consulting.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a competitive agricultural market.
• Working knowledge of corn and soybean production systems, including pest and disease complexes, weed management, and seed/crop protection products.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with producers and translate technical information into actionable guidance.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel within the territory.
• CCA designation or progress toward certification preferred.
• Experience with precision agriculture tools, soil sampling platforms, or variable-rate fertility programs preferred.
• Proficiency in CRM software, digital communication tools, and standard office applications.

Responsibilities

• Prospect potential grower customers.
• Serve as the primary contact for customers, delivering high-quality agronomic support.
• Build and manage a portfolio of corn and soybean grower accounts in the territory.
• Conduct agronomic consultations from hybrid selection to seed placement.
• Prepare and present customized product and program proposals; negotiate pricing within guidelines.
• Identify and convert prospective grower accounts through networking and field presence.
• Develop territory growth plans and set measurable goals to expand market share.
• Plan routes and calls to maximize face time with high-priority accounts.
• Maintain records of activity, pipeline, and competitive intelligence in CRM.
• Coordinate with internal operations for on-time delivery and order accuracy.
• Monitor market conditions and report trends to leadership.
• Manage territory expenses within budget parameters.
• Make on-farm sales calls and provide tailored agronomic recommendations.
• Serve as first-call resource for growers facing agronomic challenges.
• Support post-harvest evaluations to document product performance and improvements.
• Stay current on product registrations, label requirements, and crop science developments.
