Job summary

NANA Management Services is seeking a Remote Security Officer to support Maniilaq Housing in Kotzebue, Alaska. This role remotely monitors housing properties, coordinates responses to incidents with on-site staff and emergency services, and maintains detailed records of all security activities.

The ideal candidate will have security or law enforcement experience, strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and an understanding of rural Alaska communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past 3 years per NMS policy.
• Ability to obtain Alaska Guard License (fee $97) prior to employment.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and contract-specific software.
• Pre-employment requirements may include drug testing, fitness and hearing tests; travel may be needed for testing near residence.
• Ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment with Alaska Native communities.
• Ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift as per schedule.
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must meet all safety guidelines and regulations set by company and client.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol assigned buildings and grounds, visually or electronically.
• Control access to the property for authorized individuals.
• Inspect doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.
• Document and report incidents such as property damage or safety hazards.
• Warn violators and, if needed, escort them from the property.
• Notify on-site staff when visitors or service providers arrive.
• Assist in responding to emergencies to protect life and property.
• Check heating, lighting, sprinklers, ventilation, and fire safety systems.
• Provide transportation using various vehicles as required.
• Administer emergency medical aid including CPR and AED use.
• Report safety or sanitation concerns to a supervisor promptly.
• Perform other duties to support the department and community’s success.
