Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a qualified SDS/Observations Medical Coder for a full-time role. This position offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants and an hourly pay range with comprehensive benefits.

Remote work is possible from anywhere in the United States. Responsibilities include assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services, adhering to coding guidelines, and collaborating with clinicians to ensure accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• Current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H).

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT and ICD-10 code assignments for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services per guidelines.
• Apply coding knowledge to correct CCI edits and medical necessity edits.
• Abstract data elements during chart review and provide documentation feedback to providers.

Education

AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H)
