Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) to work in a remote capacity within the Veterans Affairs department. The role demands strong programming skills (C#, .NET, Java, Python) and experience across manual/automated testing, SDLC, and CI/CD practices. The position is full-time, requires U.S.

citizenship, and offers a salary range of $85,389 to $116,975. Applicants must have a public trust (MBI) clearance or be eligible.

Formación

• Strong programming skills in languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking/management tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of DB/SQL for validating data.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.
• Experience with different testing types (functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Attention to detail and delivering quality work.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to mentor junior testers.
• Translate business requirements into effective test scenarios.
• Experience with test management tools.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices/tools.
• Ability to conduct test reviews and provide feedback.
• Understanding of risk-based/exploratory/context-driven testing.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to meet standards and end-user needs.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environment.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis/resolution of open issues.
• Document and resolve complex problems.
• Report progress on issue resolution to management.
• Develop improvements to procedures and models for future configurations.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
