Job summary

Pearson’s Evaluation Systems is seeking qualified candidates for the (NY) Associate, Scoring Services role. This remote position involves evaluating test responses, applying scoring standards, and participating in consensus scoring with other scorers.

Applicants must hold a current teaching certification or have recent experience in the content area; basic computer skills and US work eligibility are required. The role offers remote work with a starting rate of $17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• A current teaching certification in the subject area you are applying for and are currently teaching or have taught in schools (public or private) within the last three years (including regular substitute)
• Educators from colleges or universities who have taught or advised a content-relevant field within the last three years
• Hold a degree in the content area and have held professional employment in the content area within the last three years
• Basic computer skills (keyboard, mouse) and ability to sit for extended periods; maintain confidentiality; eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and apply strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring
