Job summary

UNOPS - United Nations Office for Project Services in a home-based role seeks a Safeguards, Risk, and Inclusion Specialist to lead demand-driven technical assistance for climate-resilient infrastructure in the Eastern Caribbean. You will apply GBA+/GESI, manage environmental and social risk, and ensure quality delivery across multi-country assignments.

The position requires hands-on guidance, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to travel for on-site deployments as needed, with a retainer

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in environmental and social safeguards, risk management, and inclusion.
• Experience applying GBA+/GESI approaches to infrastructure or development programmes.
• Experience with grievance mechanisms, stakeholder engagement, ESMPs, and OHS arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Screen RIISE requests and assignments for safeguards, risk and inclusion requirements.
• Strengthen safeguards, risk management and GBA+/GESI integration across programme management.
• Support grievance procedures and assess project-level grievance mechanisms.
• Provide technical inputs, QA and capacity building to the Secretariat and government stakeholders.
• Lead reporting and knowledge transfer for assignments.
